Ait Ben Haddou Excursion
Ait Ben Haddou is an ancient fortified village located in the region of Ouarzazate, Morocco. It is famous for its traditional earthen architecture and its adobe houses, which are built in successive layers and blend harmoniously with the surrounding mountains.
Ait Ben Haddou was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 for its exceptional historical and cultural value. The site was an important trading center on the caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, and served as the setting for many Hollywood films, including “Gladiator”, “Lawrence of Arabia” and “The Scorpion King”.
The village is dominated by a kasbah, a fortress that once served as a residence for local tribal chiefs. Visitors can explore the narrow streets and covered passages of the village, admire the adobe walls and carved wooden ornaments, and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valley.
Ait Ben Haddou is today a popular tourist destination, attracting thousands of visitors each year for its natural beauty and unique cultural heritage.
